Are belly dancers awkward?

My wedding is Arabian Nights themed and I thought it would be really fun to have a belly dancer(s) at my reception. My sister-in-law to-be told me that it would be really awkward if there was a woman "shaking her junk in our relatives faces" which I completely disagree with. Would it be totally awkward to have belly dancers at a formal wedding reception?
I dont think that belly dance would be awkward. However its a traditional dance in Arabian countries.

Belly dancers are great for weddings. They have been part of the wedding day in many Middle Eastern weddings or years, and aids in the celebration of life and happiness. It should not be considered as tacky. These performances can be called Zeffas.

I think it could be wonderful entertainment that fits with your theme. Belly Dancing is more of a art form. Then just to clarify shaking your junk in some ones is called a stripper.
