Engagement photos are usually a more casual setting. If it is a cost issue try doing some yourself first. If your not happy with them or the quality it's nothing lost and you can still hire a professional. check with some photographers you are considering for the wedding. As a perk some photographers offer free engagement photos if you book them for the wedding. You will never regret having a good quality photographer.

I did engagement photos and I didn't end up using them. They didn't come out the way we wanted them to at all so we decided to just forget about them. I would still recommend getting them done though. If we didn't do them, we would have booked that photographer for our wedding day and most likely would have hated our wedding photos, and that would be awful. Also, even if the photos don't end up being good enough to put on a Save the Date or something, you still have a memory of such a fun time in your relationship!

Hi Sarah, I would definitely recommend having your engagement photos taken by a professional photographer! You definitely won't regret the memories later on in life! I'm a wedding photographer and I had a few brides mentioning to me how they wished they took the photos before they got married. There are lots of great photographers, i'm sure you will find a great and not so expensive one in your area! Good luck and congrats!! E
